Historical collaboration agreement with LKAB
Luleå University of Technology and LKAB strengthen the collaboration through a strategic collaboration agreement in education, research and innovation. The aim is to increase the quality of competence development and lifelong learning, research and innovation.
–This is the first strategic collaboration agreement that Luleå University of Technology signs with the industry, and means that we in the university management work directly with LKAB's group management. We are very pleased with this and will cooperate within, among other things, student recruitment and research, Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn, says, Vice-Chancellor at Luleå University of Technology.
–This is extremely important. Competence builds strong mining companies and strong competitiveness. It is very important for us to have a close and good cooperation with Luleå University of Technology, which is Sweden's mining university, Jan Moström, says, President and CEO of LKAB.
A continuous dialogue at management level
LKAB and Luleå University of Technology will now conduct a continuous dialogue on education, new education or improvement of existing education. There may be new forms of education and lifelong learning, the possibility of mobility of employees between the parties, student collaborations and student recruitment, and much more.
University management at Luleå University of Technology and LKAB Group management will discuss research and research collaboration for the continued development of a sustainable mine. The collaboration in research and innovation applies to both technical and social science research and innovation and should be characterized by sustainability with a gender and gender perspective.
Competence development within LKAB
LKAB and Luleå University of Technology will also define the need for competence development within LKAB and systematically work to find forms in order to work in a structured way with targeted efforts towards further training of LKAB's staff. Efforts in competence development and lifelong learning can take place in several ways, including through assignment training for LKAB employees who need to renew their knowledge with the changing requirements of digitization.
