Hockey players sought for a study about cognitive processing
Do you play ice hockey and are 18 years or older? Welcome to participate in an online study about ice hockey and attention.
Hockey players make many quick decisions, and decision making and attention are part of what is called cognitive processing. In a research study, relationships between cognitive processing and playing ice hockey are being investigated. The researchers are now looking for women and men who play ice hockey and are 18 years or older.
“Your contribution can lead to increased knowledge that can potentially help associations, coaches and athletes to lead the development of ice hockey forward,” says Daniel Sörman, Senior lecturer in psychology at Luleå University of Technology.
Can different measures of decision making, and attentional abilities be related to age, player position, or the level of competition that an ice hockey player is in? These are some of the questions that the study aims to answer.
As a participant, you will first respond to questions about your background as an ice hockey player. After that, by following a link, you will perform a few tests of attention and decision-making.
All data collection is done online, the tests are carried out on a computer. Total time for execution, that is, the time it takes to respond to all questions and perform cognitive tests, is approximately 25 minutes. Your answers are anonymous, no identifiable information will be saved, and results will only be presented at a group level. Information about your club affiliation will not be collected. The study is funded by the by the Swedish Research Council for Sport Science.
