Signed partnership with Generation Pep
Generation Pep is a non-profit organisation working to give children and young people the opportunity and will to live active and healthy lives. Luleå University of Technology has now signed a partnership with the organization to strengthen the work and link it to current research.
The Swedish Crown Princess couple is the initiator of Generation Pep and the organization is led by Carolina Klüft. Together with a variety of actors from society, they want to create commitment to solving a major societal challenge, young people’s health. Lack of physical activity and unhealthy eating habits increase the risk of, among other things, depression, type 2 diabetes, sleep disorders and cardiovascular disease.
“I look forward to having Luleå University of Technology as a knowledge partner and through that deepen the collaboration we already have. Together we can advance the positions, not least in the area of active school transport, where we have worked together a lot,” says Carolina Klüft operations manager at Generation Pep and former elite athlete.
The concept of knowledge partner includes contributing with knowledge within your area of expertise and being available for questions and advice. For Luleå University of Technology, it is an important part collaborating with the surrounding society to ensure that research results come to use.
“It is an honor for Luleå University of Technology to be invited by Generation Pep to be one of their knowledge partners and through collaboration contribute to ensuring that all children and young people have the opportunity for an active and healthy life. This is also a strategic network that gives us an additional opportunity to influence the development of society and through children's active travel contribute to the green transition,” says Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn, Vice-Chancellor at Luleå University of Technology.
