Praised by the mining and steel industry
Marta-Lena Antti, Professor of Engineering Materials at Luleå University of Technology, has been named to the 40 over 40 list for the second year in a row. The list highlights prominent women in the mining and steel industry who have made particularly significant contributions during the year.
"It feels great fun and an honor to be on this list. It is an acknowledgement that the way I work is real, with a focus on collaboration so that we can become stronger together, both jointly within the academy and together with our fantastic industry that we have in Sweden," says Marta-Lena Antti.
The 40 over 40 list is produced by the employers' organization Industriarbetsgivarna, the industry organizations Jernkontoret and Svemin, and the networks Metallkvinnor and Women in Mining Sweden. The list includes 40 women who have made special contributions to their workplace with their experience and knowledge.
Marta-Lena Antti is, among many other things, the scientific leader of the large investment in sustainable materials (WISE) at Luleå University of Technology. WISE is funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW) with the aim of enabling sustainable technologies with an impact on our society by understanding, creating and controlling complex materials with precision down to the individual atomic level.
"The fact that we are now part of WISE has certainly contributed to my place on the list and gives us great opportunities to develop our research together with the mining and steel industry, with new research projects and new equipment for material characterization," says Marta-Lena Antti.
Extraordinary commitment
The opportunity to nominate has been open to everyone with the criteria that the nominees must be women, over 40 years old and have a connection to the mining or steel industry.
The purpose of the list is to highlight the knowledge and professional experience that women contribute.
The motivation for Marta-Lena Antti reads:
