About Vetenskapens hus

January 31, 2014, the doors of Vetenskapens hus were opened. The activities in the stately building are run by the three partners IVA (Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences), LKAB and Luleå University of Technology.

Located right in the city centre, adjacent to Storgatan and Kungsgatan, the building is for the public and is here to enrich you with science and be an open space for new encounters.

Organisation

Vetenskapens hus is a collaboration between IVA, LKAB and Luleå University of Technology. It is an open meeting place with arrangements and events in research, artistic activities and development. It can be about seminars, lectures, music, theatre and much more.

The entire region should be able to take part in the activity and external organisers such as universities, scientific bodies and partners should be prepared for an arena for the implementation of their events in the area.

History of the building

Posten 1 in Luleå was built in 1953 after drawings by Posten's Chief architect Lars-Erik Lallerstedt. The building has since undergone a number of changes, partly externally but mainly internally, related to the development of the business.
