Applied Computer Security

Computer security is an important part of information security work within organisations. The course focuses on various aspects of computer security, including user authentication, operating system security, malware, and data encryption, as well as their applications. Through practical assignments, you will learn to analyse requirements and design security solutions tailored to computers within an organisation. Different usage situations, security concepts and current research are discussed in order to keep up with ongoing developments in the field.
You will learn, among other things, to:

• Identify and explain basic concepts, standards, meanings and functions in the field of computer security.
• Provide an overview of academic trends and knowledge development in computer security.
• Analyse a computer security architecture within the framework of an organisation.
• Design a computer security model in accordance with an organisation's requirements.
• Make decisions about computer security plans and procedures in accordance with an organisation's security policy.

Through lectures and assignments completed individually and in groups, you will gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills that will help you meet the challenges with computer security in an organisation's IT infrastructure.
