WISE kicked off the work in Stockholm
Over 100 people from the WISE program, as well as representatives from industry, recently gathered in Stockholm for the first ever WISE Dialogue. Five representatives from Luleå University of Technology participated.
Over the course of two days, participants came together for the first time to listen to presentations from some of their colleagues about approved research projects within WISE, as well as other talks from industry representatives and sustainability-related experts.
Different perspectives on sustainability
"I found it very interesting to learn about different perspectives on sustainability and especially its impact on society," says Eleni Stavrinidou, associate professor at Linköping University.
One of the five participants from Luleå University of Technology was Kristiina Oksman, who also presented one of the university's three approved doctoral and postdoctoral projects in the first call within WISE.
"It was fantastic to meet new colleagues and to be part of the WISE faculty," says Kristiina Oksman, professor at Luleå University of Technology and principal researcher for the project Sustainable carbon composite electrodes for energy storage.
WISE, funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW), is the largest investment in materials science in Sweden ever and will include major investments at seven of Sweden's top universities over the course of 10 years. The aim is to create the conditions for a sustainable society by researching the next generation of environmentally friendly functional materials and manufacturing processes.
