Returning student
As a returning student, you represent the university in a high school classroom. You'll get experience presenting to a group, paid travel, compensation for work, and the opportunity to meet with family and friends.
About the mission
You visit your old high school, or another school you are connected to. On site, you tell about life as a student at Luleå University of Technology, both about your studies and student life as a whole. The hope is that your experiences and information will help those who want to know more about studies at the university as well as life at the place of study.
This is how it works
- You register your interest by emailing ambassador@ltu.se and, if necessary, participate in a student ambassador training session.
- You check with the school if they want a visit and the opportunity to give a presentation.
- We will provide you with information on how to book the trip and you will receive the presentation materials.
- You book the trip, prepare your presentation and collect materials to take with you.
- You travel, conduct your presentation and return to us after your visit.
- We pay your reimbursement.
Good to know
- To be able to travel as a returning student, you need to be a student ambassador. Are you not an ambassador? Read more and sign up here!
- Homebound student assignments are carried out within Sweden's borders.
- You can also visit a school other than your previous upper secondary school, such as Komvux, adult education or folk high school to promote and inform about the university.
- You contact the principal, mentor, teacher and study counsellor yourself to schedule your visit to the school. You are more than welcome to make more than one visit when you go home, it can be in two different classes at the same school or at different schools. You can also choose to lecture in an auditorium to several different classes at the same time.
- The length of each visit is discussed in consultation with us and the host school. The suggestion is to stick to 30 minutes per visit, including a Q&A session.
- We provide you with materials to carry out your lecture (PowerPoint) with instructions and suggestions on what to talk about. In order to receive a fee for your work, you must submit a visit certificate that you bring to the visit, it must be signed by your contact person at the school.
- If you would like to carry out a visit together with other students at Luleå University of Technology, contact us to discuss what such a visit can look like.
- In addition to travel, you will also receive compensation in the form of a fee for the visit.
- The fee consists of one hour for preparation, and one hour per presentation. For example, if you give a presentation in two classrooms or visit two schools, you will be paid for two hours.
You can do this at any time of the year, without a predefined plan for when you want to go. You do not commit to anything by contacting us.
