Unions, sections and associations
At Luleå University of Technology there are two student unions: Teknologkåren and Luleå Studentkår. The unions work to ensure that the students at Luleå University of Technology get the best education, a rich life outside their studies and are well prepared for the job market.
Student unions
The union is the students. The union works to ensure that student's interests are made visible both at the university, but also in the municipality, whether you study in Luleå, Skellefteå, Piteå or Kiruna. They arrange job market contacts, social events and give you as a member much-needed discounts.
Are you unfairly treated by a teacher, are you dissatisfied with the course literature or do you think your student accommodation has become too expensive? Then the student unions are there to represent your voice and help solve the problem.
Do you support the work of the unions and want to influence your studies? Become a member of the union! Are you driven and want to help improve the situation of students at Luleå University of Technology? Do not settle for just being a member, get involved in the union!
Luleå Student Union is for those who study economics, social sciences, behavioural and system sciences, health sciences, teacher training and media, music or actor training. Luleå Student Union has students in Luleå and Piteå.
The Student Association of Engineering is for students who are taking a Master’s and Bachelor’s programme in engineering, other technical programmes or single courses in technology on campus in Luleå, Skellefteå and Kiruna.
Student associations
In addition to student unions and sections, there are around 20 student associations and organizations that you can join alongside your studies. It's a great way to get to know other students, make contacts and have a really fun student life. There is something to suit most people, regardless of education and interest.
