Degree project on a scientific basis and in practical collaboration
The aim of the project is to develop and test a model for thesis work on a scientific basis and in practical collaboration, and to document and scientifically illustrate the project.
Who are we?
The project Examensarbete på vetenskaplig grund och i praxisnära samverkan includes two researchers from Ltu, Annbritt Palo, Lena Manderstedt, Sara Viklund who is a high school teacher in Piteå and Hanna Nilsson who is a subject teacher student writing her degree project. All are co-researchers in the project.
The area for R&D practice-related research
- staging of degree projects with a focus on subject theory, subject didactics and methodology as well as practice (What conditions are required? How should the joint responsibility be distributed?).
- practice-oriented topics for degree projects are in focus (How to develop topics? How to keep topics relevant? How to lay the foundation for joint ownership?)
- the students' final subject course and long placement course connect prospective assistant supervisors and students who want to write degree projects in collaboration (What requirements does this place on staffing, placement, service planning for teachers in school activities? What advance planning is required, and how can it become part of the university's and the principal's planning process?)
- scientific supervision and systematic quality work becomes an ongoing process, for students and teachers in school activities (What tools do professional teachers need to act as assistant supervisors for degree projects? What requirements can the higher education institution and the principal place on each other and on the professional teacher)?
- follow-up is systematized and implemented (Where should the degree project be presented, when and by whom? How should responsibility for the examination be distributed?)
The model is expected to show what conditions are required, how collaborative supervision must be organized, what the timetable must look like, how the matching of supervisors in the institution and the student teacher should take place, how the collaborative degree project contributes to the development of the student teacher as well as the school and teacher education, and how follow-up and evaluation should be done,
"Degree project in collaboration" should mean that scientific basis and proven experience meet in a joint work, which develops both teacher education and school activities.
Purpose of the project
The purpose of the project is to develop and test a model for a degree project on a scientific basis and in practical collaboration, and to document and scientifically illustrate the project.
Implementation and documentation
Co-planning, PM and research overview. VFU, supervision interviews, data collection, joint meetings in various constellations (supervisory colleges, pilot group and working group). Article writing.
Dissemination of results
1. presentation at a seminar at LTU
2. publication on the university's website
3. presentation in Piteå municipality
4. presentation of the model for degree project in scientific and practical collaboration
5. scientific publication and conference participation
