Composition
For three years you can study composition with a focus on composition and arrangement. The composition studies are based on projects, individual tutoring and seminars.
You study, among other things, arrangement, instrumentation, harmony theory, counterpoint, practice by ear, form/analysis, music history, industry knowledge and stage production. The projects contain practical work with different ensemble constellations as well as film/music drama. We have a large number of partners for whom you will have the opportunity to compose music, for example Norrlandsoperans Symphony Orchestra, Norrbotten NEO, Norrbotten Big Band, The Opera Studio at Kapellsberg, the courses in film and game programming at Luleå University of Technology in Skellefteå to name just a few. In our regular composition forums, you also have the opportunity to meet international composers and musicians who visit our school. You can also supplement your education profile by freely choosing courses from the other course offerings at the School of Music.
- Musical profile (composition, arrangement and harmony)
- The musical craft (music theory, ear training, practical piano, form analysis, related arts, ensemble management, recording technique, presentation technique)
- Artistic knowledge (artistic knowledge, music history)
With us, you get the opportunity to collaborate with students from other specialisations as well as with students from the audio technology programme.
