The Degree Project Fair – A meeting place for students and companies
The degree project fair was once again held at Ljusgården. About 20 companies and organisations were in attendance and met with approximately 150 students who visited the fair.
For many students, their thesis project can serve as a gateway to the workforce. The degree project fair gives them the opportunity to meet companies that could become future employers. Some companies come to the fair with ready-made thesis proposals, while others welcome students’ own ideas.
“We’ve participated in the fair several times, although this is my first time here personally. We think it’s a great forum to meet students, tell them about our company and what we do, and build relationships for the future. We offer thesis projects in collaboration with clients, which provides students with a broader range of opportunities to explore during their thesis work. It’s been a great day for us, giving us the chance to meet and talk with many interested students,” says Håkan Olovsson of Softhouse.
Making connections and putting names to faces can be valuable for both students and companies. It can open the door to further discussions about thesis projects, future jobs, and other collaborations. Several students and company representatives who made connections during the day highlighted the fair as a valuable meeting place. For companies, it can also be a way to find future employees.
“A thesis project can be the start of a collaboration that continues long after graduation,” says Carina Jenslid, project manager for NorrlandsNavet.
The degree Project Fair is organised by NorrlandsNavet in collaboration with Luleå University of Technology
