The Jubilee Fund awards ceremony had a golden tinge to it
The first five researcher from the Jubilee Fund received the proud sum of SEK 9,779,521 from the Jubilee Fund. The researchers who received funds for their research were announced after a festive finale at the House of Science, with a golden tinge to it.
The Jubilee Fund was established by Vice-Chancellor Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn when Luleå University of Technology turned fifty in 2021. She saw the need to enable a sustainable future - more ambitious
"The university wanted to see if we could work together in a completely new way. We believe that this way we can reach out to stakeholders with whom we otherwise have no contact", Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn says.
Therefore, a unique fundraising campaign was launched by private individuals, foundations and companies.
"When faced with a major change, some ideas have difficulty finding their place in the traditional system. Donors make it possible for the university to invest in such innovative research projects, says Paer Weihed, Pro Vice-Chancellor at Luleå University of Technology.
The finalists presented their ideas
At the time of the announcement, 38 applications had been received, and tonight 10 finalists presented their ideas. The five winners of the evening can now add social value as part of the green transformation.
"To make this happen every year, we need to reach out to more potential donors. If you know someone who should get in touch with the Jubilee Fund and its fundraising work - contact me! This was the first final. There will be more!" Pär Johansson said, Head of Collection.
