Connected industry
An important prerequisite for tomorrow's circular economy is the presence of high-quality omnipresent connectivity – a means for industry to detect, identify, track and authenticate products, components, materials, etc. This thematic area collects the various initiatives and projects that contribute to a future connected industry.
Projects under this thematic area touch on other thematic areas where digitalisation is in focus. For instance, the areas of 'Asset management and Condition Monitoring', 'Digital Twins', and 'Data for Circular Economy' provide a broad need for ubiquitous connectivity. But other thematic areas may also, more implicitly assume the sharing of large amount sof data without limitation or cost.
An important part of the Connected Industry is the development of today's wireless network technologies: 5G currently being rolled out globally and 6G, currently being researched in a pre-standardisation stage and expected to be rolled out beyond 2030.
