Academic Ceremony
Luleå University of Technology's conferment and inauguration ceremony takes place every year on the second Saturday of November.
The Academic Ceremony includes conferment of doctoral degrees, promotion of honorary doctors, inauguration of new professors, welcoming of new adjunct professors and awarding of academic prizes.
This year's Academic Ceremony is on Saturday 8 November 2025 and consists of a ceremony followed by a banquet. Invitations will be sent out in early September.

Luleå University of Technology has appointed three honorary doctors for 2025: Joachim Nordin, Petra Viklund and Lennart Rohdin.

Medal of Merit and Jubilee Medal
During the Academic Ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor has the opportunity to award the Medal of Merit and Jubilee Medal for outstanding contributions to the university.
Our honorary doctors
Luleå University of Technology has been appointing honorary doctors since 1981.
