Next year, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music celebrates its 250th anniversary. The venerable institution has commissioned Fredrik Högberg to write the anniversary music.

Honorary doctor and sound engineer Bruce Swedien is dead

The American sound engineer Bruce Swedien is dead. He worked with producer Quincy Jones on several of Michael Jackson's albums. He also worked with jazz legends such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Dinah Washington. He was awarded an honorary doctorate at Luleå University of Technology in 2001.

Stefan Östersjö appointed guest professor at Karlstad University

On November 1, Stefan Östersjö took up a guest professorship at the Department of Art Studies at the Ingesund Scool of Music, Karlstad University. The guest professorship is funded by the Wettergren Foundation. – My guest professorship is part of a strategic collaboration to build larger environments for research in musical design, says Stefan Östersjö.

Two students in Piteå selected for Young Nordic Music

Robin Lilja and Fredrik Ekenvi have been selected to participate in Young Nordic Music (UNM) with their respective works. They are both in their second year of the master's program in Musical Performance at the Academy of Music in Piteå at Luleå University of Technology.

Teacher releases concert film and live album

David Myhr, senior lecturer in musical design at the Academy of Music at Luleå University of Technology in Piteå, will release a concert film and a live album on Friday 23 October, both with the title Made in Piteå. Most of the songs are from the album Lucky Day, which is the artistic part of David Myhr's ongoing dissertation.
