There are many factors that shape a music production, including technical, commercial and artistic concerns. In our discussions about production, however, very often we focus on production methods and technical issues. In this seminar series, faculty from University of York and Luleå University of Technology will attempt to broaden our ideas about what gives a music production its distinctive character. Each seminar in this five-part series will offer a different perspective on some of the aesthetic issues that shape productions.
The American sound engineer Bruce Swedien is dead. He worked with producer Quincy Jones on several of Michael Jackson's albums. He also worked with jazz legends such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Dinah Washington. He was awarded an honorary doctorate at Luleå University of Technology in 2001.
On November 1, Stefan Östersjö took up a guest professorship at the Department of Art Studies at the Ingesund Scool of Music, Karlstad University. The guest professorship is funded by the Wettergren Foundation. – My guest professorship is part of a strategic collaboration to build larger environments for research in musical design, says Stefan Östersjö.
Robin Lilja and Fredrik Ekenvi have been selected to participate in Young Nordic Music (UNM) with their respective works. They are both in their second year of the master's program in Musical Performance at the Academy of Music in Piteå at Luleå University of Technology.
