SUN – Natural resources for sustainability transitions
Northern Sweden has the potential to show the way for a successful restructuring of the basic industry that not only benefits Sweden but also the rest of the world.
Luleå University of Technology's initiative SUN, Natural resources for sustainability transitions, focuses on the assets in the form of ore, forests and water, which are of central importance for realizing the social transformation needed to achieve the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs)s. We know that it is precisely here, in northern Sweden, that the technical development and restructuring of our national basic industries can be a precursor to how to achieve the UN's global sustainability goals. Sweden's important basic industries, ore, wood and hydropower, which are located in northern Sweden, are a prerequisite for successful climate change.
