The role of small businesses in the green transition
The research project focuses on examining the role of small businesses in the green transition in northern Sweden.
By integrating small businesses more actively in the green transition, the region in northern Sweden can strengthen its economy, promote innovation, and simultaneously contribute to reducing environmental impact and climate change.
The project is called Sustainable value creation in ecosystems: Barriers, practices, and collaboration between SMEs and larger firms and will run for two years starting in January 2024. The project will investigate how circular business models should be designed, developed, and implemented for sustainable and circular value creation for both large and small companies.
"We will study the current relationships, activity flows, and division of labor among ecosystem partners but also theorize about the future needs and changes required for the still emerging green transition ecosystems in northern Sweden," says Debadrita Panda, postdoctoral researcher.
The project is funded by the Kamprad Family Foundation and aims to provide insights and recommendations that can help small businesses implement sustainable business models and promote positive change.
The results of this research project are expected to have a significant impact on how small businesses across the region can contribute to the green transition and thereby promote a sustainable and circular economy for future generations.
