French journalists visited the university
Today the Luleå University of Technology was visited by journalists from some of France's largest daily newspapers. They were invited to report on the world-unique green initiatives currently being implemented in northern Sweden.
At the Luleå University of Technology, the French journalists visited the CH2ESS research center where hydrogen use in industrial processes and energy systems is in focus.
"The knowledge of our investments in the carbon dioxide-free steel production at Hybrit and H2 Green steel, as well as our investments in hydrogen for electricity production are spreading around the world," says Cecilia Wallmark, Operational Manager, Centre for Hydrogen Energy Systems Sweden, CH2ESS, at the Luleå University of Technology.
Erik Elfgren, Associate Professor in Energy Engineering, talked about the educations that are given with a focus on the green transition. Professor Jonas Hardell then presented his research on rolling element bearings in a hydrogen environment. Then they visited two laboratories for mining research within the framework of the recently launched Swedish School of Mines, where the mining expertise of the future will be educated.
"Hopefully we have been able to convey how closely business, society and Luleå University of Technology work together to solve the challenges that this green transition entails in the form of, for example, the supply ofcompetence and skilled technicians," says Saeed Chehreh Chelgani, an associate professor in Mineral Processing and Heed of The Swedish School of Mines at the Luleå University of Technology.
