Luleå University of Technology has generous benefits when it comes to working hours, flex time and vacation. This is because we want you to have time to recover and return to work strengthened.
Working time
We have generous benefits when it comes to leave. This is because we want you to have time to recover and return to work stronger. We believe that your ability to manage your own time helps us become a better university.
Flextime applies mainly to technical and administrative staff. Fixed time between 09.00 and 15.00 with the possibility of flex at lunch and before and after the fixed time.
Vacations
We want you to rest so that you can come back with perspective and energy.
Your vacation:
- 28 days up to and including the year you turn 29.
- 31 days from the year you reach 30 years of age
- 35 days from the year you turn 40 years old
You can take your annual leave from the beginning of your employment and you have paid leave from the first year.
Other types of leave
Leave of absence
You can take leave for many different reasons, in some cases with full pay.
Parental leave
With us, you receive a supplementary allowance for 330 days that you take according to SGI. You can also apply to work part-time until the end of the school year in which your child turns 12.
Sick child
You should feel able to stay at home if your child becomes ill. If you have a salary above the base amount ceiling, Luleå University of Technology supplements the compensation you receive from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency for 10 days per year.
Sick leave
We want your full potential restored. Therefore, we try to put in early rehabilitation efforts and if you become ill, we share the responsibility for your compensation together with Försäkringskassan.
- Luleå University of Technology pays 80 percent of your salary on days 2-14 of the sickness period.
- Försäkringskassan pays your compensation from day 15 of the sickness period.
- We supplement the compensation you receive from Försäkringskassan.
Leave without salary deductions
As an employee, you are entitled to leave without deductions for;
- medical and dental appointments
- Family matters (serious illness, death, funeral, probate).
- Moving (1 day per year)
- Examinations and tests (5 days per year)
Reduction of working hours
Easter, Whitsun, Midsummer, Christmas and New Year's Eve are non-working days.
Health
We want you to spend time on your well-being. We know that in the long run it is beneficial for the entire Luleå University of Technology and therefore we have a number of wellness benefits.
Health care
The university offers employees health care during working hours. Everyone who has an employment of at least 50 percent for at least six months is entitled to health care. To the extent that the work allows, full-time employees can use two hours of wellness care per week, while part-time employees can use the wellness care in proportion to the employment, employment 50 percent corresponds to one hour per week.
In Luleå, all employees receive a daytime training card at the StiL sports center, and in Piteå wellness activities are offered in collaboration with Korpen Sportkompaniet. In Skellefteå, wellness activities take place in collaboration with PULS and in Kiruna with Actic.
Occupational health care
Luleå University of Technology has an agreement with Falck.
You may visit doctors and dental care during working hours and you will be reimbursed for medical expenses and prescription medicine covered by the high-cost protection.
Pay, insurance and pension
As one of several tools, salary formation should contribute to the university achieving the goals set for the activities and promote the possibility of recruiting, developing and retaining employees. The salary policy shall motivate good work results and a good working environment.
Salaries shall be individually determined and differentiated. Salary setting shall primarily be governed by differences in responsibility, the difficulty of the work tasks and the employees' skills and results related to the business objectives.
Salary for doctoral students
Doctoral students do not have individual salaries but are paid according to the doctoral ladder.
Insurance
We want you to have proper protection during your working hours and as an employee you are covered by several different insurances:
- Business travel insurance - When travelling on business, you are insured via Kammarkollegiet.
- Service group life insurance - Provides financial protection for the insured's spouse, registered partner, cohabitant and children in the event of death.
- Occupational injury insurance - covers injury or illness resulting from an accident or otherwise caused by work.
Pension
Just as we have your best interests at heart during your working life, we want you to have a sustainable life when you leave us. Here are some examples of benefits that affect your pension.
Occupational pension
The occupational pension works in practice as a second, deferred salary so that you will receive more than the public pension when you stop working.
Survivor's pension
Money that can be paid to your family in the event of your death.
Salary exchange
With us, you have the opportunity to save for an increased pension. salary exchange. This means that you can save part of your gross salary for your occupational pension in a favourable way. You then reinforce the occupational pension already paid by your employer.
Sickness pension
If you become ill with a permanent reduction in your ability to work and therefore receive special compensation from Försäkringskassan because of this, Luleå University of Technology has an income-enhancing agreement with SPV.
The Social Security Foundation
We want you to have proper protection when your temporary employment with us expires or if you are dismissed due to labour shortage.
The agreement on adjustment is a benefit that you who have been dismissed due to a lack of work can take part in if you have been employed for at least 12 months at the same authority.
In certain parts, the agreement also applies to you whose temporary employment ends.
You must have been employed for at least two consecutive years to receive certain benefits. The support increases after at least three consecutive years of employment, and further if you have been employed for six years in a seven-year period.
Trygghetsstiftelsen can, for example, help with support and advice and in some cases financial compensation. Permanent employees are also given an extended notice period.
