More about the Centre for Societal and Critical Infrastructure Security
Information security and cybersecurity
The pervasive digitization of society and organizations creates an increased need for security solutions and safe digital behavior of employees. By combining people, organization and technology within the Centre, good opportunities arise to address challenges at the societal level and in working life.
Researchers from different disciplines are brought together within CiSS to contribute to safe, efficient, and secure digital information management through applied research. Organizations, companies, commercial actors, the public sector, and several other sectors are included in the research projects that have been and are being conducted within the Centre.
The Centre for information security and cyber security focuses on two directions: organizational information security and technical security technologies. Information security applies a human-technology-organizational perspective and has a broader focus. Cybersecurity focuses on critical infrastructure and applications in several related areas.
Our mission
CiSS is an entrance to get in touch with researchers and research projects in information security and cyber security.
Our goal is to be an arena where companies, organizations, universities, and society can meet and together increase their know-how to take on challenges with, for example, amplified cyber threats and attacks, increased security responsibility at the business level and for individual employees. We work with incident management, security solutions, systems, applications, and technical solutions to ensure socially critical functions. We also work with management and government on organizational security work, training and education for security awareness and safe digital behaviour, information classification methods, risk and vulnerability analyses.
In addition to participation in research projects, the target groups can collaborate with the research in various ways. We arrange seminars and events aimed at a general audience as well as specialists to increase interest and insights. Representatives from companies and organizations are invited, or are invited to contribute, too, knowledge sharing in seminars and events. Representatives of companies or organizations can also contribute as guest lecturers in our various courses and programs. Challenges within the Centre’s two directions can constitute problem descriptions in master theses and project courses. In these, the need owner, i.e., the company or organization, work together with committed and active students whom researchers and teachers supervise. We also host smaller seminars where different actors can share experiences and have a dialogue about future challenges and the measures needed to ensure competence supply. Topics for such seminars are suggested by the target group to touch on real and practical areas.
