Sustainable polymers and composites
Sustainable polymers and composites is a thematic area that includes research with an aim to develop novel materials solutions with low environmental impact, in order to promote sustainability.
Materials development is conducted in areas such as nano- and biocomposites, fibre reinforced polymer composites and tribology of polymers. In the projects we seek to enhanced and optimize performance such as structural, electrical, wear etc., either through the use of traditional constituents but to an increasing extent through the use of bio-based and/or recycled constituents. The broad competence, from nano-scale modification, manufacturing, advanced experimental characterization and materials modelling, makes the thematic area well prepared to address novel scientific challenges within each competence area while maintaining the overarching ambition to integrate life cycle aspects, sustainability and circularity as main motivation for the developments.
