Division of Industrialized and sustainable construction

The division of Industrialized and sustainable construction (ISC) consists of the research subject Construction Management and Building Technology.

The division's activities include research and education concerning the building process stretching from planning and design to construction. Our core competencies are management and automation of the building process, industrial and traditional construction and production systems, primarily for building construction but also for civil construction. We also conduct research on virtual and energy-efficient construction through visualization, analysis and simulation. The department is involved in two laboratories: MCE laboratory and Virtual Reality Lab.

The division is responsible for some 20 undergraduate courses and is primarily responsible for the Master of Science in Civil Engineering programme with a major in Lean Construction and for the Master of Science in Achitectural Engineering programme with a major in Building Design.

The number of employees at the division is about 30.

Inaugural lecture: The public business – an underutilised potential for change?

Innovation procurement as a tool for new thinking for the sustainable and digital transformation of social construction is highly topical. Not least because of Agenda 2030, the climate crisis, the demographic development and the possibilities of digitization. How can innovation procurement and the public client's demand be used as adjustment tools, what are the success factors and what are the obstacles that need to be overcome? Erika Hedgren is a new Adjunct Professor in Construction Management and Building Technology at Luleå University of Technology. The lecture was held in Swedish

Doctoral workshop with doctoral students and seniors from ISC, June 2022.
