Preliminary study Electricity system
The project shows that thanks to the new electrical safety law (1 July 2017), industrial manufacturers of wooden houses can design a new production strategy that involves ownership of the entire supply chain from design to handover.
The manufacturer can do this by registering as an electrical installation company and taking responsibility for ensuring that
- carrying out the electrical installation work in accordance with current regulations
- ensuring the competence of those carrying out the work on behalf of the company
- complying with the requirement to have a self-monitoring program established for the activity.
The production strategy for an industrial manufacturer of wooden houses then involves bringing production in-house to enable the balancing of resources in production and avoid watertight thinking between different professional groups. There are challenges partly because the law is new and it is unclear to what extent the application of the law has been tested and realized in reality. This may create inertia throughout the value chain when it comes to implementing such a production strategy. Systematic literature review and searches in publication databases show that there is very little new research published in Sweden since 2017 in the area. This indicates that there is a need to continue exploring the area.
