Choices during your studies
Here you will find information on registering for courses, how to choose a specialization, what happens if you don't choose a specialization, optional and elective courses, and if courses you are interested in conflicts with each other.
Registration for courses
If you are a program student, the following applies
Information about courses in your program is shown in your study plan. Courses that are compulsory should in most cases not be applied for, there are exceptions. You will be able to see your compulsory courses before the start of the semester at My LTU > Courses and programs > Current admissions.
Courses you need to apply for via antagning.se
Elective and optional courses you apply for via antagning.se.
Degree projects and vfu courses you may also need to apply for via antagning.se.
Log in to antagning.se via My LTU > Registrera/Anmäla > Sök kurser ( antagning.se).
The last day of registration for the fall semester is April 15 and for the spring semester is October 15.
Register in good time before the deadline! If you register late, you have no priority or guaranteed place!
Program students should log in via My LTU with their student user or via antagning.se. Under the heading "Are you already a student?" you choose the university. It is important that you close the browser window after logging out so that no one else can access your application.
NOTE! Remember the deadline (see important dates on antagning.se).
If you have not accepted by the deadline, it will automatically be a no answer and the application option(s) will be deleted.
Choice of specialization
The curriculum states whether a program has a choice of specialization. Choice of specialization takes place either before the autumn or spring semester, depending on which program you study.
Choice of specialization takes place via LADOK during the application period, see below.
Dates for choice of specialization
For the spring semester: 15 September-1 October
For the fall semester: 15-30 March
Change of specialization
You can apply for a change of specialization by contacting Service Point.
Remember that you do not have priority for courses and this may lead to an extended period of study.
If you do not choose a specialization:
- No course proposals will automatically appear in the service for registration at My LTU.
- You do not have priority for places.
- This can lead to extended study time.
Choices for students on open entry
Students on open entry should make their choice for further studies via antagning.se no later than April 15. More information only available in Swedish on this page Opens in new window..
An optional space in the curriculum means that you have the opportunity to choose freely among courses offered at universities and colleges corresponding to the scope of the optional space. Elective courses must be applied for via antagning.se.
Overlapping courses shall not be included in the degree. It must be clearly stated in the syllabus when two courses have essentially the same content, i.e. overlapping courses. If you are unsure about the content of similar courses, you should contact the examiner concerned.
Optional courses shall not be credited. The degree application states which elective courses will be included in your degree.
Elective space is compulsory and is indicated in the syllabus with the comment "elective".
The syllabus states which elective courses are offered for your particular program. An elective space means that you have to apply to study one of a few predetermined courses during the elective period. Elective courses should be applied for via antagning.se External link. as a program student.
