Stabilization of volumes
An analytical evaluation of the test results gives a 3D factor of 0.98 to 2.28 for whole volumes for deformations below 20 mm. The 3D factor decreases with increasing deformation.
Building with volume technology offers a number of advantages that are not always fully exploited. Building houses with prefabricated three-dimensional units is considered to provide an "extra" stability that is not always reflected in the design rules.
The effect of a three-dimensional approach is not utilized because of the difficulty and little experience of the possible added value of a three-dimensional view of building volumes. This project has investigated the possibility of establishing a 3D factor with which manufacturing companies can optimize their solutions.
The work has been financed by TräCentrum Norr and participating companies. The project has been carried out as a complementary project to the Interreg. Nord project "TallWood - Wood Solutions in Tall Hybrid Building".
