Register and publish your degree project
When your thesis is completed and approved, it must be made available in the publication database (DiVA). Your registration will be checked by the education administrator before publication.
1) Create an accessible PDF file
Before you create a cover to your thesis, you need to have your thesis in PDF format. The PDF document must fulfil the requirements of the Act on the Accessibility of Digital Public Services – often referred to by the Swedish acronym for the act, DOS.
One tip is to make your Word file as accessible as possible before reformatting it into a PDF. It is usually easier to fix accessibility in Word. After you have formatted your Word file into a PDF, you need to check that your PDF is accessible and fix any errors in Adobe. If you've already made the basics accessible in Word, there are usually less things to fix.

3) Register your thesis in DiVA
Once your thesis has a cover and is approved by the examiner, it is time to register the thesis in the publication database.
It is important that you carefully follow the instructions in the manual or instructional video to ensure that everything is correct. Please note that in order to receive a confirmation of your registration, you must enter your department and your e-mail address.

4) Publish the thesis in DiVA
The main rule when publishing a thesis at Luleå University of Technology is that it should be published Open Access. Open Access publication means making the thesis publicly available e.g. through Google and other search engines. Publishing your student thesis publicly is a good way to market your knowledge and competences.
If you choose not to publish the thesis publicly, you should archive the pdf in DiVA. This is according to current procedures since the university is subject to the principle of public access to information. This means that a document, such as a thesis, after a confidentiality assessment, must be released when the public requests access to it.
You should have any films, music files and/or other attachments available as you also have the opportunity to upload them together with the thesis. Keep in mind that you must have copyright or the author's permission if you use images/film/music in your work.
