Thesis at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural resources engineering (SBN)
The thesis is the final work of your education. During this course, you will apply the knowledge and skills acquired during your studies in an investigation or small research project of your choice. The degree project comprises either 7.5, 15 or 30 credits, depending on the programme you are studying.
Application and registration of degree project
If you are going to carry out your degree project according to the program's curriculum, you should apply for the thesis course via www.antagning.se External link, opens in new window.. Remember to log in as a program student (via My LTU) when you apply. The course code and current registration code can be found in the program plan (click on the course code for the thesis project you are interested in and you will move on) My program plan.
At the same time as you apply for the course, you should start discussing appropriate content with your supervisor. Please note that no work may be started (other than the project plan) before you have been admitted to the thesis course and had your project plan approved by your supervisor.
If for some reason you do not start your thesis according to the program's curriculum, you apply directly to the department and are then admitted to an individual course session.
In order to be finally admitted and registered for the thesis course, you must complete and submit the web form "Notification of start of degree project 30/15/7.5 credits".
You indicate in the form if you are studying the course according to the syllabus and have applied for the course via www.antagning.se or if you deviate from the syllabus and will be admitted to an individual course session.
Your completed web form is sent to the education administration at your department, which contacts your supervisor/examiner to confirm that the submitted information is correct and that you have the required prior knowledge.
If you are deemed eligible for the thesis course, you will be registered on the course by the education administration, with the start date you have indicated in the form.
Presentation of the thesis
To pass the degree project, you need to complete the following modules;
- Attendance at two other thesis presentations
- Opposition on another degree project
- Oral presentation and defence of own work
- Approved written report
- Register approved report in Diva for publication
NOTE! It is you as a degree worker who is responsible for ensuring that your examiner reports to the education administration at the department when you have completed any of the steps above so that it can be reported in Ladok. The easiest way for your examiner to do this is by email to: edusbn@ltu.se
Presentations for degree projects are coordinated two to three times per semester, current presentation dates and registration forms can be found on the links below.
