Examinations for distance students
If you are studying a course or program with the form of education "distance", you may be given the opportunity to take an exam at another exam site than the Luleå campus if the exam site meets the university's requirements for legally certain examination. PLEASE NOTE that you must contact the exam site yourself to book a place. You must also register for the examination in Kronox and there choose which venue you have been granted permission to take your exam at. Please read the checklist.
- Distance examinations must take place at a college, university or learning center.
- The examination venue must be able to receive you at the given examination time and also have approved examination supervision, which means that an invigilator must be on the premises throughout the writing time.
- When it comes to exams at another exam site, Luleå University of Technology does not guarantee that vacant seats are available or that the learning center is open during the time your exam is given.
- You are responsible for arranging the exam according to the checklist below. The exam must take place at the same time, i.e. the same time and date, as the exam at Luleå University of Technology.
If you cannot find a place for the exam that meets the requirements above, you will be offered to take the exam on the Luleå campus.
If you missed registering for the exam, you can find more information here.
With the "distance" form of teaching, there shall be no writing costs for the student. In case of any costs for writing the exam at the exam site, where they cannot invoice the university, the student can receive reimbursement for expenses on presentation of a receipt/excerpt. Contact your course offering institution for further information. Please note that the possibility of compensation only applies to exam places and costs within Sweden's borders.
Checklist for registering for remote exams
- Find an exam venue from the list (see below for the list of exam venues).
- Contact the contact person at the exam venue where you want to take the exam and book your seat. If your exam is written in Inspera, you must state this. Information on contact details for LTU can be found at the top of the list of exam sites.
Distance exams are scheduled as far as possible with a start at 9.00 am. Therefore, do a preliminary booking for that time. - Make your exam registration via KronoX External link, opens in new window.. Choose the exam location and register.
NOTE! LTU sends out information via email to the exam site you have signed up for in Kronox. - About a week after the exam registration is closed, you can check the time in the exam schedule External link..
For those with approved exam adaptations
Before each exam, you must apply for an exam adaptation for that particular exam.
- You are responsible for contacting the examination venue to ensure that they can offer the adaptations you have been granted from Luleå University of Technology. You must present your certificate of your recommended accommodations to the exam venue.
- When you have found an exam venue that can offer support, you register for the exam. When registering, click on the support you want to claim for the exam in question.
- If you want to check the support you have claimed afterwards, go to your exam registration and click on support. The support you have chosen is then highlighted in green.
Deregistration
If for any reason you cannot write the exam you have registered for or if the learning center gives a late cancellation, you must contact the exam site and cancel your place and notify your department at Luleå University of Technology. See contact details below.
If you fail to do this, there is a risk that the examination site will not accept students from the university in the future and that both the examination site and Luleå University of Technology will incur unnecessary costs.
