Process-structure investigation in SEM
Within research projects, as well as industrial collaborations, quality assessment is an important aspect. Examination of the microstructure can, among other things, provide information on compatibility between fiber and matrix, dispersion and distribution, as well as the type of fracture involved. This can further contribute to a material and process understanding which is further used for process optimization and development of e.g. strong lightweight biomaterials.
Another important part for the investigation of porous materials is the possibility of a deeper understanding of the microstructure, pore size and distribution. This further provides important information about the influence of process parameters and material properties. For bio-based raw materials, subtraction from the cross-sectional area contributes to important information about its natural structure which can then be compared with manufactured structures.
