Physical and psychosocial work environment
Working environment
It is everyone's duty to contribute to a better working environment. Students are equated with employees under the Work Environment Act.
The university is responsible for ensuring that the physical work environment, including premises, ventilation, light and sound, is good, that the premises are accessible and do not exclude students with disabilities, and that the premises are not used for more people than the specified design number.
The psychosocial work environment includes the student's right to be involved and respected, and the right to have insight into and be able to influence decisions.
Student safety representative
The university must have student safety representatives. Their task is to monitor the work environment and point out shortcomings to those responsible at the university. The student representatives are appointed by the student unions. The university is responsible for the training of student safety representatives.
Student health care
The University shall provide students with student health care. Student health care is provided by Guidance and Health at Luleå University of Technology. The main task of Guidance and Health is to promote students' physical and mental health. The activity has a preventive focus and is also a support for other activities at the university and contributes with specific competence regarding students' health.
Equal treatment
The Discrimination Act (2008:567) aims to promote equal rights for students and applicants for education and to strive for equal treatment regardless of, for example, gender, transgender identity or expression, ethnicity, religion or other beliefs, disability, sexual orientation or age. This also applies to internships and placements.
The university is obliged to conduct targeted work to promote the student's equal rights and to investigate and take the necessary measures to prevent harassment and offensive treatment.
