SIVPRO 2
The over-all objective of the project is to verify technology for direct verification of geometry on-line without the need for specific fixtures or a dedicated measurement room.
This project is a collaboration between Luleå University of Technology, two research institutes, and five companies in the automotive industry. The over-all objective of the project is to verify technology for direct verification of geometry on-line without the need for specific fixtures or a dedicated measurement room. The quantitative objectives of the project are:
- To increase the amount of verified products with at least a factor of 30.
- Reduce operator time by 10%.
- Reduce the amount of scrap and adjusted products by 10%.
- Make the technology available for users through the founding of a start-up company.
The project partners are: Luleå University of Technology, RISE – Acreo, Swerea – KIMAB, Volvo Car Company, Volvo Trucks, Gestamp Hardtech, Scania, and IAC Group Sweden.
The measurement technique used is passive photogrammetry. Combined with specially designed software that automatically aligns the measured component with its CAD-model, geometrical deviations may be calculated in predefined points. The measurement head is seen in Figure 1. The measurement of freely moving components is managed through flashed illumination and an optical trigger.
