GreenTRIBOS participation at the 48th Leeds-Lyon Symposium on Tribology
During the first week of September, 12 students from GreenTRIBOS at 4 universities (Luleå University of Technology, University of Ljubljana, University of Coimbra and University of Leeds) participated in the 48th Leeds-Lyon Symposium on Tribology, held at the University of Leeds campus, UK.
The 1st Green Tribology Conference was held as part of the Leeds-Lyon Symposium and focused on the contributions of ESRs and tribology itself with presentations by 12 PhD students. A special panel discussion was held, starting with a keynote presentation by Prof. Rob Dwyer-Joyce from the University of Sheffield, UK, on "Losses in electrical power transmission - from wind turbines to electric cars".
The Green Tribology Conference included talks dedicated to several topics in sustainable tribology, from the development of new eco-friendly lubricants, coatings, MXenes and organic friction modifiers to sustainable tribomaterials and manufacturing methods for various applications in the automotive, hydropower, wind energy, aerospace and chemical industries. We all look forward to the successful graduation of all 12 ESRs in the near future.
PhD students from the Division of Machine Elements, Lucas Kneissl, Maksim Nikonovich, Nayan Dhakal, Sharjeel Ahmeed Khan, Afrina Piya Khan and Prashant Gangwani presented their research results during the session.
Another cause for celebration was the success of PhD student Nayan Dhakal from the Department of Machine Elements at LTU, as he was awarded the "2023 Dowson Prize - Best Paper and Presentation by a Young Tribologist at the Leeds-Lyon Symposium".
