MetalIntelligence
MetalIntelligence Project – Funded by Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions – EU Horizon 2020
The project is a part of a bigger network of MetalIntelligence. Luleå University of Technology (LTU) takes part in the Work Package 4 (WP4) – Dynamic modelling of mineral processing circuit, in which SBN-MIM is responsible for the particle breakage prediction using state-of-the-art X-ray computed tomography (XCT) analysis. The project focuses more on developing tools that would allow feature extraction and quantitative analysis from 3D image (volume) obtained from XCT. Breakage modelling is done by simulating cracks propagation in the 3D volume, using combinations of breakage mechanism therefore generating population of particles. Afterwards, the generated particles which bears the features from original 3D volume are used process modelling on a particle level, where it can potentially eliminate the stereological error obtained from conventional 2D based analysis.
