Prep – Primary Resource efficiency by Enhanced Prediction
Project involves partners from the leading three types of deposits from different parts of Sweden. The project aims at development of an integrated modelling and simulation environment for conducting a comprehensive model-based prognosis for the beneficiation of primary mineral resources.
Project involves multiple industrial (LKAB, Boliden, Lundin Mining, Outotec) and academic partners (Chalmers University). The main expected outcome from the project is a spatial geometallurgical model developed by deploying mineral processing parameters into a block model. Three case studies at different development stages used as case studies. The initial stage of the project covers development of data models for organizing the geological data in a common structure. Then, analysis techniques and number of samples required have to be defined based on the deposit type and the stage of deposit development. Finally, process parameters obtained from resource characterization (data acquisition) can be deployed in a geometallurgical model.
