An active daily life with safe mobility
Development and evaluation of an interdisciplinary model for early proactive screening, assessment and interventions to promote health among older people.
When older people develop frailty, they face difficulties in maintaining an active daily life with safe mobility that promotes health during the ageing process. People need to be supported early in the ageing process to be able to act proactively and remain active.
Developing sustainable models for proactive preventive and rehabilitative interventions that promote health for older people is therefore urgent. When collecting data on older people's functioning, methods are often limited to capturing those with more extensive disabilities. New more detailed methods to proactively screen and investigate different pathways and determinants of healthy ageing therefore need to be identified. These can then be included in routine healthcare practices to strengthen the possibility of timely and accurate interventions.
The research adopts a broad perspective on possible determinants of activity and mobility limitations during aging. Based on the results obtained in studies with older people, the model is developed in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Our interdisciplinary collaboration contributes to a collective expertise that enables us to achieve the increased precision required to promote the health of older people.
The project has its origins in seed funding from PRECISE. A number of research applications were formulated that have now received funding from the The graduate school Personcentred and Integrated Care and the Kamprad Family Foundation.
