Embarking on a New Educational Journey: Designing a Course in Life Cycle and Cost Assessment
Luleå University of Technology (LTU) Group of Polymeric Composite Materials researchers in cooperation with international partners will develop training content on life cycle and cost analysis of products and processes. This course will be aimed at PhD students as well as industry professionals and will be implemented in the framework of the Summer/Winter school.
The training material will be developed in the framework of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Knowledge and Innovation Community "EIT RawMaterials" KAVA project EPICENTRE (Educational Platform lIfe Cycle assEssmeNt sTRucturEs).
Bringing together more than 300 leading industrial companies, universities, and research organizations from 20 countries, EIT RawMaterials is one of the largest consortia in the world using support tools to strengthen collaboration, promote knowledge sharing, start-ups, and innovative solutions at all stages of the product life cycle, from exploration, extraction and processing to substitution, recycling, and the circular economy.
This project is running along the activities supported by CREATERNITY to develop LCA education within LTU. During the project, Summer/Winter schools will be organized to validate the materials developed in both online and face-to-face sessions.
The project will be implemented by international partners - Riga Technical University (Latvia), TalTech (Estonia), Lulea University of Technology (Sweden), Aahus University (Denmark) and the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute (Slovenia). At LTU, the project will be run by staff members in the division of Materials Science. The project is managed by Professor Roberts Joffe (Head of Subject of Polymeric Composite Materials) and Dr. Zainab Al-Maqdasi (Postdoctoral researcher at the Group of Polymeric Composite Materials).
The project started in January 2024 and will run for three years.
