North Waste Infrastructure (NWI) - a modern environmental project
North Waste Infrastructure, NWI, is a unique, modern environmental project with a focus on extracting more energy and nutrients from waste products.
Due to the on-going extraction of the rich natural resources in the region, current levels of waste production in northern Norrland are among the highest in the world. The region still has many vast unexploited areas, but the creation of large landfills is causing soil pollution which limits the potential for future land use. In order to preserve and develop the long-term attractiveness of this region it is important to create conditions where the rest products from production and consumption can be made useful. By using our waste more effectively we improve our environment and move one step closer to achieving our vision of a sustainable society that is fully adapted to the eco-cycle.
