TOOLF – TOO LEAN TO BURN, TOO FAT TO DUMP
TOOLF – Too lean to burn, too fat to dump, is project aiming at characterizing and developing new treatment methods for large waste streams with an organic content unsuitable for both waste incineration and landfilling, where today there are no good treatment options.
The project attempts to solve a strategic flaw in the Swedish and EU waste treatment systems: wastes that with a medium range of organic matter mixed with inorganic pollutants. The development is based on advanced characterization methods and various physical, mechanical, chemical and biological processes for waste treatment. Gaining a better understanding of the materials to identify the best treatment to apply.
