The role of emotions in cognitive and physical performance during competition among elite athletes
The aim of this project is to investigate the interactions between cognition, emotion and physiological responses during the performance of physical and cognitive tasks during competition.
Sporting excellence requires the athlete to successfully perform and manage cognitive and physical tasks. In addition, athletes' emotions have been shown to influence cognitive and physical tasks related to sports performance. During a competition, the athlete has to evaluate situations, make decisions and be strategic. However, as physical fatigue increases, it often becomes more difficult to manage cognitive loads. However, limited research has examined how athletes' cognitive and physical performance can be related to emotions during competition. The aim of this project is to investigate the interactions between cognition, emotion and physiological responses during the performance of physical and cognitive tasks during competition.
