Place-innovative tourism destinations
The project aimed to explore and develop place innovation as a theoretical and practical concept to further develop tourism destinations and the tourism industry in northern Sweden. The project was managed in collaboration between researchers, industry and society.
The project explored how place innovation can contribute to the understanding and promotion of attractive tourism destinations and tourism activities, in collaboration between academia, industry and society. The project was based on practical examples and experiences from tourism companies, destination companies, municipalities and architects/designers in Swedish Lapland.
The project was managed 2015-2017 in collaboration between Luleå University of Technology, The Swedish Industrial Design Foundation, Piteå Science Park and companies, municipalities and organizations in tourism. The project was funded by The R&D Fund of the Swedish Tourism and Hospitality Industry (BFUF).
