Design as a development force
Design as a development force is a national study on ways of thinking and working for society's transformation in a sustainable direction, which was produced on behalf of the Ministry of Culture in collaboration between SVID and Svensk form. Researchers from the research subject Design at Luleå University of Technology contributed through interviews, roundtable discussions and text documents.
The study begins with a discussion of what design is and can do to respond to policy objectives. It is then discussed how design processes can contribute to increased value in both the private and public sector. In addition, the origin and development of Swedish design policy, the other Nordic countries' work with the design field, and good examples of design as a force for development, are described and discussed.
