RenResources
Staff shortage is a bottleneck for local slaughterhouses and thus an obstacle for entrepreneurial ideas about local development based on such as food processing, art and craft, catering. The project will develop and offer reindeer slaughter and cutting training, as a business development effort for SMEs.
Participants, funders and objectives
Sápmi Innovation AB and Lapin ammattikorkeakoulu Oy and Luleå University of Technology (coordinator) participate in the project. The project is funded by the EU Interreg Nord Sápmi and co-financed by participating organizations. The Swedish national co-financier is the Norrbotten Region. Finnish national financier is Lapin Liitto.
This is what we want to achieve within the project duration: A quality-secured, gender-integrated course package is designed, where capacity and competence in Finland meet a need identified in development work in Norrbotten's Sami villages. A pilot with Swedish and Finnish participants where the course is validated. Collaborative connections are established so that the course package can continue to be offered, as a cross-border common interest to work for development and innovation in the reindeer herding industry with binary industries. The knowledge base for the recovery of by-products and handicraft materials in reindeer slaughter has been strengthened.
