Risk assessment of variations in light intensity in LED street lighting for traffic safety
Street lighting plays an important role in road safety. It may possibly be jeopardized by variations in light intensity of the LED street lighting.
Problems with variations in light intensity in LED lighting for household and office environment are already proving much more complicated than just the "classic" flicker problem that existed with incandescent bulbs. However, there is a lack of detailed knowledge, considering that LED lighting is new and still under development. The project will make an assessment of how disturbances in voltage affects the variations in the light intensity of the street lighting. A preliminary risk assessment will be made, when both the consequences of a particular light intensity variation for traffic safety, and the likelihood that this will occur, will be evaluated. Some measurements will be performed against the link between voltage transients and the light intensity variation.
