Effect of grid events on nuclear power plant equipment
Faults and connections in the main electricity network cause voltage changes such as voltage drops and switching transients on appliances even if they are connected at lower voltage levels.
Faults and connections in the main electricity network cause voltage changes such as voltage drops and switching transients on equipment even if they are connected at lower voltage levels. Voltage drops and switching transients can cause equipment to disconnect in a nuclear power plant. The aim of the project is to gain a better understanding of disturbances in the national grid: cause, propagation and effect on nuclear power plants. The details of the voltage disturbance, such as transients at the beginning and at the end and the waveform distortion before and after the disturbance are included in the study.
