EMC-lab
Location: A-house, A1514
Description: The EMC Lab has a large, fully anechoic chamber. It provides a platform for teaching and research, and it serves as an industrial test ground to solve electromagnetic problems.
The chamber is a shielded chamber sized 8 x 5 x 4 m, where all the inside surfaces are covered by electromagnetic absorbing material, making the measuring site similar to free space in the frequency range 30 MHz – 18 GHz.
Radiated electromagnetic fields from electronic equipment can be measured in the range 30 MHz – 1 GHz. (We are working on the band from 1GHz - 6 GHz but we are not there yet)
Immunity against radiated electric fields can be tested in the range 80 MHz – 6 GHz with magnitudes up to 18 V/m CW and 10 V/m 1 kHz sine 80% modulation.
Outside the chamber there are facilities for the following emission measurements:
- Measuring conducted emissions on the mains and on telecom and network ports (Artificial Mains Network).
And the following immunity tests:
- Electrostatic discharges
- Electric Fast Transient pulses (breaking inductive loads)
- Surge (lightning) pulses
- Surge pulses, injected by means of CDN (Coupling Decoupling Network)
- Conducted RF 0.15 – 220 MHz, injected on means by injection clamp
- Voltage dips and variations
- Magnetic field impulses
Extra facilities available at the EMC Lab
- Vector Network analyzers 10 kHz – 26.5 GHz,
- Digital oscilloscope 2.5 GHz, 20GS/s(1 channel) or 5 GS/s(4 channel), 4 channels
- Spectrum analyzer 3 Hz - 26.5 GHz
- Signal generators 5 GHz - 20 GHz
