The influence of playground design on the play experiences of children with disability
Playgrounds are meaningful places for all children and indispensable for the development of physical, social and emotional skills. Playgrounds for children are an important place for social interactions with peers, and for parents a meeting place with other families.
The possibility of social interactions with peers is usually the most important purpose of a playground. Children with disabilities often encounter various obstacles in playgrounds, which makes it impossible for them to use the playground or arrive at playgrounds is not even possible due to environmental barriers. However, how and if available playgrounds prepare for inclusion and participation from a child-centered perspective have not yet been investigated.
