New Replacement Policy Considering Environment Sustainability (NRPCES)
Lifecycle of modern physical production systems could last up to 30 years. During this lifecycle, large amounts of energy and economical resources are consumed, right from production to actual use, maintenance, and ultimate disposal. One major decision for industries concern: when does it make an economic and environmental sense to replace an equipment?
NRPCES proposed a data-driven, scientifically justified and environmentally friendly equipment replacement decision to reduce the total ownership cost of such expensive production machineries and increase the equipment dependability.
NRPCES project is part of Eureka Clusters Sustainability Call 2022 in collaboration with Sweden's innovation authority- VINNOVA Opens in new window. and Belgium innovation authority-INNOVIRIS (The Brussels Institute for Research and Innovation)

Sustainability Goals
NRPCES is aligned with international agendas to fulfil the need for closing the loop on the use of planetary sources. Being the railway and aviation part manufacturing high in the use of products and waste, the DSS created in this project with allow a more efficient use of resources by encouraging a longer use of them utilizing ERT policies. DSS will help managers towards a more circular economy, where the life cycle of machinery can be extended, bringing value to society and to companies, reducing costs and saving commercial expenses while fulfilling sustainability goals and climate mitigation actions. The project has direct SDG impact on:
SDG 5: Gender Equality
SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities
SDG 12: Responsible Production and consumption
SDG 13: Climate action
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
