Development of measurement techniques using CT scanners
CT WOOD's computed tomography scanners and the equipment supporting the CT-scanners, such as a custom-made kiln and climate chamber, are the core of the research activities at the division of Wood Science and Technology in Skellefteå.
In November 2020, a new - industrial - CT-scanner was installed and commissioned during 2021. The performance of the new tomograph is higher compared to the current one, which is a medical CT-scanner.
The aim of this CT WOOD project is to develop measurement techniques that focus on the efficient distraction and interpretation of the data obtained with the CT scanners. The applications in which the scanner is used are at the front line of the development of wood-based materials and their processes. Among one of the goals of the project is to investigate the possibilities to develop a fire chamber for the CT scanners.
