Evaluation of measures for energy efficiency
A large part of our housing stock was built during the million homes program 1965-1974 that includes about ⅔ apartment buildings. Today, there is a great need for renovation and increased energy efficiency in this stock.
These areas are also often recognised as built heritage with cultural significance. The project aims to investigate if and in what way improved energy efficiency and indoor climate can be achieved in a historic environment from the 1970s when historic and architectural values, based on both professionals’ assessments and residents' perspectives, are considered. A case study of a residential area in Piteå has been selected. Indoor climate and energy use in two buildings will be measured and modelled, possible building and installation engineering measures will be identified, dialogues with professional actors and residents will be conducted, and scenarios that take into account identified measures and interpretations of how they affect historic values will be modelled.
The project is part of Spara och bevara External link., which is a research and development program initiated by the Swedish Energy Agency to increase knowledge about energy efficiency in historic buildings. The program aims to develop and disseminate knowledge and technology solutions that contribute to energy efficiency in this buildings stock without decreasing its cultural significance.
